South Simcoe Minor Hockey Announcement Regarding OHF Player Movement Policy
The South Simcoe Minor Hockey Association (SSMHA) would like to inform our membership of the recently announced Ontario Hockey Federation (OHF) Player Movement Policy. This initiative aims to provide opportunities for player development while maintaining fairness and consistency across all OHF member associations.

Key Details of the Announcement:

  • Players now have the choice to play for any center, regardless of their residence, and no longer require a ‘release’ from their home association. The new policy applies to REP hockey from U10 to U18 at all levels, including AAA, AA, A, and B/BB.
  • It includes specific guidelines regarding eligibility, process timelines, and documentation required for movement.

This announcement reinforces the importance of why SSMHA was created through the merger of Bradford West Gwillimbury Minor Hockey and Innisfil Minor Hockey. The merger was designed to provide local players with opportunities to play at a higher level within their home center. By combining resources and talent, we are proud to offer a development pathway that allows players to succeed while staying in their community.

At SSMHA, we are deeply committed to nurturing homegrown talent. Our mission is to support local players as they develop their skills, build confidence, and achieve success, both on and off the ice. By focusing on our community's players, we ensure that opportunities are accessible to those who grow and train within our association.

The OHF has provided a comprehensive FAQ and additional details, which can be accessed via the following links:

We encourage all SSMHA families to review these resources carefully. As always, our association remains focused on creating a positive, development-driven hockey experience for all of our members.
