U14 A Storm Complete Remarkable Run to Win South Simcoe Storm Classic
The South Simcoe Storm U14 A team showed incredible resilience and determination on home ice, battling through early adversity to capture the championship at the South Simcoe Storm Classic, held Thursday, February 5 through Sunday, February 8, 2026, in South Simcoe.

The tournament began with a challenging stretch for the Storm, as the team faced tough competition right out of the gate. On Thursday evening at the Paul Dossey rink, the Storm dropped a hard-fought 4–3 decision to the Orillia Terriers. Friday afternoon saw another close battle, with the Storm falling 3–2 to the West Coast Whitecaps at IRC Braley (Gold). The momentum didn’t shift easily, as Saturday night brought yet another tight contest, ending in a 3–2 loss to the Brant Battalion at IRC Cortellucci (Red).

Despite the difficult start, the Storm never wavered. Entering Sunday needing wins to stay alive, the team responded exactly when it mattered most.

In the morning semifinal, the Storm earned redemption against the Orillia Terriers, skating to a gritty 3–2 victory at the Morgan Russell Memorial Arena in Lefroy. That win set up a championship rematch with the West Coast Whitecaps later that afternoon.

In the gold-medal game, the Storm delivered their strongest performance of the weekend. In a fast-paced, physical final, the team locked things down defensively and capitalized on their chances, securing a thrilling 2–1 victory in shoot out to claim the tournament championship.

The U14 A Storm’s path to the title was defined by perseverance, belief, and team unity. Facing elimination, the group rose together, showing tremendous character and composure under pressure. Their championship performance was a testament to the hard work put in by the players, coaches, and support staff throughout the season.

Congratulations to the U14 A Storm on an outstanding and well-earned tournament championship! πŸ†πŸ’
