The South Simcoe Storm U15BB squad skated their way to a Bronze Medal finish this past weekend at the prestigious Can-Am Hockey Tournament in Montreal, competing in the highly competitive Lafleur U15 division.
Facing strong opposition from both Ontario and U.S. programs, the Storm delivered a resilient and determined performance over three days of action.
South Simcoe opened the tournament Friday afternoon at Dollard Civic Center Arena with a statement victory, defeating the South Windsor Knights 4–0. The team established their pace early, combining disciplined defensive play with balanced scoring to secure the shutout win.
The momentum carried into Saturday morning at Sportplexe Pierrefonds, where the Storm earned their second straight shutout, blanking Lorne Park Clarkson 2–0. Structured team defense and timely offense once again proved to be the difference, putting South Simcoe in a strong position heading into the final round-robin matchup.
In their third game Saturday evening, the Storm faced a tough KJR Red squad and came up short in a 6–0 loss. Despite the setback, the group remained composed and focused, quickly turning their attention to playoff action.
That determination paid off Sunday morning.
In the Bronze Medal playoff game, South Simcoe delivered one of their strongest performances of the weekend, defeating Toros 5–0 in dominant fashion. The team controlled the pace from the opening puck drop, received stellar goaltending, and capitalized on their scoring opportunities to secure the shutout and bring home bronze.
The medal finish is a testament to the team’s depth, work ethic, and ability to respond under pressure. Competing in a high-level tournament environment in Montreal provided valuable experience, and the Storm represented South Simcoe with pride both on and off the ice.
Congratulations to the players, coaches, and families on an outstanding tournament weekend and a well-earned Bronze Medal finish.
