The South Simcoe Storm U11 A team put together an impressive and resilient performance to capture the championship at the South Simcoe Storm Classic, held Thursday, February 5 through Sunday, February 8, 2026, in South Simcoe.
This caps off a run of back-to-back-to-back tournament championships where the team went 13-2-2.
The Storm opened tournament play Thursday evening with a strong 3–1 victory over the West Hill Golden Hawks at IRC Braley (Gold), setting the tone for the weekend with disciplined team play and solid defensive structure.
Friday tested the Storm’s composure, as the team battled through two tightly contested games at the Nottawasaga Centre Ice Sportsplex. A scoreless 0–0 tie against the London Jr. Mustangs Purple highlighted excellent goaltending and defensive commitment, followed by a hard-fought 1–1 draw versus the Cambridge Hawks, keeping the Storm firmly in the playoff picture.
On Saturday, the Storm found another gear. Playing at the Paul Dossey rink, they delivered a confident 4–1 win over the Hespeler Shamrocks, combining strong puck movement, relentless forechecking, and timely scoring to punch their ticket to the championship game.
Sunday’s final brought a rematch with London Jr. Mustangs Purple, and the game lived up to the moment. In a tight, playoff-style battle at IRC Cortellucci (Red), the Storm held firm defensively and capitalized when it mattered most, earning a thrilling 1–0 victory to secure the tournament title.
The championship run was marked by grit, teamwork, and outstanding defensive play throughout the weekend. The U11 A Storm showed tremendous character and determination, representing the South Simcoe Storm with pride.
