This past weekend our U12A South Simcoe Storm
participated in the Glancaster Bombers Veterans Memorial Tournament.
The team went undefeated in the round robin securing 1st place in their division.
Semi finals, the team won 7-1 to advance to Sundays
championship game. The team had the
lowest goals against in the tournament by the dynamic goaltending duo. This also shows how great the defense and
forwards played in their zone controlling the game. The championship game they
were down early 0-2 at the end of the first. The team always talks about
winning periods, one at a time.
They scored their first goal in the second period,
followed by another goal in the third period to tie the game with 4 minutes
left. After the third period the teams were still tied. First overtime of 3 on
3 they traded several shots on net without any goals. Second overtime of 3 on 3
and more shots traded and still no goals on either end. Teams moved onto the
shoot out round. With the parents on the edge of their seats and other family
members watching the live stream from home, the golden goal came from the first
shooter, while the goalie stopped all 3 of Glancaster‘s shots!!! SOUTH SIMCOE STORM WINS their first
tournament of the year!!!!!!
All weekend the players were blocking shots killing penalties, working hard, having fun,
supporting teammates, loving adversity and playing through tough times.
Thanks to the parents who never stopped cheering. Your
support is amazing! Also special thanks
to M.B., B.G., J.M. and C.W.
For the parents and fans that don't know, there was a
sign up above in the dressing room of our semi final game that read
"talent wins games, Teamwork wins championship".
I agree 100%, teamwork wins championships.
