U9 MD Tier 1 Team Proposal for the 2024-25 Season Announcement
Following a comprehensive meeting this past Monday, which featured valuable input from our members in both Innisfil and Bradford, the South Simcoe Minor Hockey Association wishes to address the proposal of establishing a South Simcoe U9 MD Tier 1 team for the upcoming 2024-25 season.

A survey was conducted to gauge the interest and opinions of our community regarding this initiative. The feedback received highlighted a division of opinions among our members at this time. We deeply value the insights and engagement of our community in these discussions, as they are crucial to the informed decision-making process.

In anticipation of forthcoming announcements from the OMHA concerning the U9 category, and after careful consideration of the feedback received, the Board has resolved not to pursue the establishment of a SSMHA Tier 1 U9 MD team for the 2024-25 season. This decision was not made lightly, and it reflects our current assessment of what is feasible and in the best interest of our association and its members. As a result, all U9 MD programming will remain at their local centres for the coming season.

The board remains committed to working closely with our local centres to explore all viable options for the future. Our goal continues to be the provision of valuable and enriching representative hockey experiences, and we believe that ongoing collaboration and dialogue with our community are essential to achieving this.

We extend our gratitude to everyone who participated in the meeting, the survey, and who shared their perspectives. Your involvement is integral to the success of our young association.

Should you have any questions or wish to discuss this further, we encourage you to reach out to [email protected], who will be more than happy to direct your question to the appropriate Executive.

Thank you for your continued support and understanding.
